Integrative & Functional Labs

Welcome Guest!

LE-Nutrition LLC is an integrative and functional nutrition practice led by Lauren McCarthy, MS, RD, LD. Below are three main packages (Basic, Gold, and Diamond) designed to look into potential root causes, imbalances, and nutrient deficiencies that may lead to inflammation, fatigue, gut dysbiosis, hormonal imbalances, chronic disease, and more!

If you are unsure where to begin, schedule a free Discovery Call to see what package would be best for you! We can also build a customized package for your needs or purchase labs “a la carte.” We recommended the “GOLD” package as a great starting point to look at vital metabolic processes, nutrients, blood profile, hormones, and more!

Take a look at each lab in detail below. Are you looking for a particular lab you don’t see? Contact us to customize a bundle for you. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us (info@le-nutrition.com).

How the Process Works

  1. Schedule a “Discovery Call” to determine which labs are best for you.
  2. Order labs and select a local phlebotomy clinic near you (if required), some tests are shipped directly to you.
  3. Mail lab sample(s) according to user instructions.
  4. Your healthcare provider (aka LE-Nutritin LLC) will be notified once results have been received.

Comprehensive Metabolic Panel

The comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP) is a blood test that gives doctors information about the body’s fluid balance, levels of electrolytes like sodium and potassium, and how well the kidneys and liver are working.

Sample Report

Lipids Panel

The Lipids Panel is a blood test that measures the levels of lipids (fats and cholesterol) in your body. It is used to help diagnose and monitor conditions such as high cholesterol and diabetes. This test can also help your doctor assess your risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

Sample Report

Anemia Panel

An anemia panel is used to help diagnose anemia, a condition in which your body does not have enough healthy red blood cells to carry oxygen to your tissues. By measuring markers of iron deficiency, this test can help your practitioner determine the type and cause of anemia you have.

Sample Report

3×4 Genetics Test

Genetics make up the baseline “code” by which your body functions. The impact of every single choice you make throughout your life is influenced by your personal genetic makeup. We test over 157 genes that can affect your metabolism, inflammation, detoxification, fitness, weight, hormones, cognition, and response to your diet, and supplements. By understanding how your unique genetics impact these key processes, you can make smarter, more personalized decisions about your health. There may even be insights you never imagined (like whether that second cup of coffee is a good idea).

Our genetic test is designed to provide clear insights and recommendations about areas of health that are most important to you:

  • Nutrient needs
What are your body’s unique needs and how do you respond to certain foods? How well do you tolerate fat and carbs? What’s your vitamin D need? Do you require extra antioxidants and Omega-3 fats compared to others? Should you limit gluten, salt, or caffeine?
  • Fitness strengths
What type of exercise will your body respond best to? How can you train smarter in alignment with your genes, for better performance, faster recovery, and fewer injuries?
  • Proactive prevention
Is your body more prone to high blood pressure, high blood sugar, or high cholesterol? How can you support your cardiovascular system and your immune system for more resilience as you age? We also look at processes like inflammation, detoxification, methylation, and more.
  • Ideal Weight
Why does your body resist weight loss and how can you manage your weight in a healthy way that is personalized to your unique body?
  • Stress strategies
How does your life stress affect your brain health, your hormones, your sleep quality, and your overall wellness? More importantly, what can you do about it?

Sample Report

NutraEval

The NutrEval® is both a blood and urine profile that evaluates over 125 biomarkers and assesses the body’s functional need for 40 antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, amino acids, digestive support, and other select nutrients. Personalized recommendations for nutrients are determined by using an algorithm based on your patient’s test findings. Functional pillars with a built-in scoring system guide the need for therapeutic support in areas of methylation, toxic exposure, mitochondrial dysfunction, fatty acid imbalances, and oxidative stress. The NutrEval Plasma and NutrEval FMV (first-morning void) differ based on which sample type is used to measure amino acids, plasma, or urine.

SIBO 3-Hour

The 3-hour SIBO assessment is a non-invasive test that can help identify if there is an overgrowth of bacteria in your small intestine. This test involves drinking a lactulose solution and then collecting a breath sample periodically over the next three hours. The breath sample is then analyzed to determine if there is an overgrowth of bacteria in your small intestine.

SIBO is a common clinical condition characterized by excessive bacteria in the small intestine and can develop in a variety of patient populations.

Symptoms and conditions commonly associated with SIBO include:

  • Bloating/distension
  • Gas
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Abdominal pain
  • Dyspepsia
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
  • Celiac Disease
  • Diabetes
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Rosacea
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Obesity

Risk factors for the development of SIBO include:

  • Intestinal motility disorders
  • Chronic pancreatitis
  • Abdominal structural/anatomic issues
  • Gastroenteritis
  • Immunocompromise
  • Decreased bacteriostatic digestive secretions (HCl, pancreatic enzymes, bile acids) such as with PPI use
  • Ileocecal valve dysfunction

If left untreated, SIBO can lead to complications such as malabsorption and intestinal permeability, or leaky gut.

Sample Report

Celiac & Nutrition

The Celiac & Gluten Sensitivity Panel investigates several substances in the blood to help diagnose celiac disease, non-celiac gluten sensitivities, nutrient deficiencies, and anemia.

Sample Report

Gut Zoomer 3.0

Description: The gut microbiome resides in your large intestine and is host to more than 1000 species of bacteria that perform certain important functions from shaping the immune system to influencing the metabolism of nutrients to fortify the intestinal mucosal barrier (gut barrier).

It is important to know the abundance of the bacteria that symbiotically live in the human gastrointestinal tract because imbalances in the gut microbiome may lead to gastrointestinal symptoms, skin conditions, autoimmune disorders, immune system imbalances, and multiple inflammatory disorders.

The Gut Zoomer report provides you with actionable recommendations that include potential risks for:

  • Intestinal permeability (SCFA-producing bacteria and tight junction integrity)
  • Intestinal disorders (IBS and IBD related bacteria)
  • Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)- related bacteria
  • Cardiovascularhealth (inflammationinfluencing and TMAO-related bacteria)
  • Autoimmune health (celiac, Crohn’s, rheumatoid arthritis, etc)
  • Neurological health (MS, Parkinson’s, and more)
  • Liver diseases (cirrhosis, hepatitis, cholangitis, and more)
  • Metabolic health (Obesity, diabetes, etc)
  • Nutrition (Vitamin production, oxalate metabolism)
  • Microbiome and hormone connections (Beta-glucuronidase and Beta-glucosidase)
  • 67 pathogenic bacteria
  • 24 Intestinal parasites
  • 8 viruses
  • 5 Fungal or yeast species
  • 5 worm species
  • 6 antibiotic-resistance genes measured

and newly added additional markers of functional digestive status:

  • Calprotectin
  • Pancreatic elastase 1
  • Bile acids
  • Cholic acid
  • Chenodeoxycholic acid
  • Deoxycholic acid
  • Lithocholic acid
  • Acetic acid
  • Butyric acid
  • Propionic acid
  • Valeric acid
  • Total SCFAs
  • ß-glucuronidase

The test performs the most comprehensive analysis available of your intestinal microbiome ecosystem from a simple one-time stool collection. This test examines the complex and intricate relative abundance of each species or genus measured, in relation to the rest of the ecosystem, to provide a unique perspective on the gut microbiome and its connection to disease and inflammation.

The functional digestive analytes aid healthcare providers in determining if deficiencies in digestive enzymes, bile, or other critical metabolites are the root causes of gastrointestinal inflammatory symptoms.

The Vibrant Gut ZoomerTM also provides patients with an actionable report that includes dietary recommendations and other natural supplementation like prebiotics, probiotics, and polyphenols.
